• Ball handling coordination and hand size (e.g., whether you can palm the ball affects how high you must jump).
• Takeoff style (one-foot vs. two-feet jump mechanics).
Treat all calculator outputs as general benchmarks and training guidelines, not guaranteed physical outcomes.
2. Physical Activity & Injury Risks
Jumping, landing, and dunking are high-impact movements that place extreme force on your joints—specifically the knees, patellar tendons, ankles, Achilles tendons, and lower back. These forces are multiplied when landing on hard court surfaces or when off-balance. Contact with the metal rim during a dunk attempt can lead to finger breaks, wrist sprains, cuts, or falls.
If you choose to perform vertical jump training (such as plyometrics, depth drops, squat variations, and box jumps) or attempt to dunk, you acknowledge that you do so at your own risk. DunkCalc, its team members, and publishers are not liable for any injuries, strains, fractures, or long-term chronic conditions (such as patellar tendinopathy or shin splints) that occur during training or play.

• You are jumping on a dry, non-slippery surface (preferably a wood basketball court or outdoor court with good traction).
• The basketball hoop is structurally secure. Do not hang on rims that are not breakaway rims or are mounted to unstable portable backboards, as this can cause the system to collapse.
• You are wearing proper athletic shoes with adequate traction, lateral support, and heel cushioning.
• Children are supervised by an adult, and youth hoops are set to height-appropriate levels.
